Extensive research and development goes into every timepiece we bring you, starting with our first effort, The Culinary Wrist Watch for chefs.
Each version of our Atelier Morpheus collectible series is strictly limited in production and painstakingly made with high quality components usually featured on much more expensive products. We are focused on delivering to our customers an ever increasing variety of fascinating and provocative timepieces.
MORPHEUS has been in business for over twenty years. Morpheus President and watch conceptualist, James R. Cowan, began the watch division in 2008. He has spent the past twenty years as a leading publisher and exhibitor of the fantastique (www.morpheusgallery.com), working with such luminaries as artists H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski, and author Harlan Ellison. Cowan operated Galerie Morpheus in Beverly Hills, CA for many years, and it became the leading venue for many of the great masters of contemporary European fantastic art.
"I think my experience in designing very limited, leather bound art books for some of our great painters, has given me a foundation in design and meticulousness (as well as persiverence) that has held me in good stead for the process of watch design and fabrication." Cowan is also a screenwriter and has a film slated for production in 2010, with producer Gary Kurtz (Star Wars). "I love the entire process of developing a unique watch concept and ultimately seeing to its gradual realization. Our essential raison d'être is to create fine watches that display the wearer's passion, whether it be cooking, art, history, or anything else."
